One of the best slow builds of all time. The Temptations add each layer on at just the right point throughout the song.
Once those clapping hands kick in around the 2:40 mark, I’m hooked every time.
Oddly enough, I came across this gem by way of “Rump Shaker” by Wreckx-N-Effect. It turns out the lines, “I like the way you comb your hair, and I like those stylish clothes you wear” have been used in a few songs since this DeBarge hit.
This song’s a perfect example of just how amazingly produced Off The Wall was. Every single instrument perfectly put to use, tempo rising at falling at just the right times… It’s just an incredibly well put together song.
