Arcade Fire might not be the first band that pops to mind at the mention of dance music, but a good chunk of Reflektor has it’s own unique dance vibe.
I wouldn’t necessarily put this on a club mix, but with the right people, it’d be a perfect dance tune for an open field on a warm, rainy night.
While it doesn’t quite have the same impact outside of it’s position as the climax of “The Suburbs”, it’s still one of my favourite Arcade Fire tracks on it’s own.
Taken in the context of the album though, this song is something else.
Back in 2005, David Bowie and Arcade Fire joined forces on stage for a benefit concert. The studio version from Hunky Dory is a classic, but the extended piano intro from the Fashion Rocks show really does it for me.
If this song doesn’t make you a Bowie fan, I don’t know what will.
This track from Arcade Fire’s latest album Reflektor, seems to channel a bit of Bowie and Iggy Pop to give something a bit more danceable than their usual songs.
