I don’t think there’ll ever been another rock song infused with quite as much sheer joy as this.

#songoftheday: John Lennon – Oh Yoko!
The perfect song for relaxing on a warm summer evening.
#songoftheday: Me First and the Gimme Gimmes – On The Radio (Donna Summer Cover)
This album just showed up in the mail, and I’ve already listened to it four times from start to finish. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes just keep getting better.
#songoftheday: The Clash – I’m Not Down
A bit of inspirational punk-rock from some of punk-rock’s greatest pioneers.
#songoftheday: Paul McCartney – Maybe I’m Amazed
Definitely have to thank my sister for tossing this on her wedding playlist.
Without a doubt, the quintessential slow dance song.
#songoftheday: Led Zeppelin – Ten Years Gone
Layers. This song has ’em.
Led Zeppelin were always fantastic at forging a narrative on a purely instrumental level. The lyrics support the tale, but it’s the music that really drives it home.
#songoftheday: Neil Young – Heart of Gold
As impressive as Neil Young’s songwriting chops are, I just can’t get over how well he can manage playing the guitar and harmonica at the same time.
#songoftheday: Nazareth – Hair of the Dog
Usually the guitarist is the one in charge of the talk box. When Nazareth plays this live however, the lead guitar player still does their thing, and the lead singer has the plastic tubing in their mouth. To add a bit to the presentation, instead of just some plastic tubing, they’ve fashioned it into a set of bagpipes. Functionally, it’s the exact same, but it makes for a great stage prop.

#songoftheday: Cat Stevens – Father and Son
Sometimes you associate a song with a particularly emotional time or moment in your life, and anytime you hear it played, you’re right back in that moment. Happy or sad, those feelings can hit you pretty hard, and seem like they’re coming out nowhere.
This is one of the few songs that’s actually made me tear up on it’s own merits.
#songoftheday: Thin Lizzy – Fight or Fall
This track from Thin Lizzy’s 1976 album Jailbreak, has them injecting a bit of R&B into their hard rock act.
